Still going

No pictures today. And yes, I missed a day of not-so-patiently-waiting-for-baby blogging (sorry for any false alarms.) We made no real plans for the 4th of July (in hopes that we'd be at the hospital) so there's not a lot going on around here today. So we'll get right to it. Here are a few things today to keep me cheerful:

Freedom/America. I'm not one for patriotic speeches or anything, but duh, living in a free country is awesome.

Brownies. A recurring theme, probably because I have been recurringly baking them.

Unexpected lunch invitations. We got invited to lunch after church and made some new friends- a good way to spend a previously unplanned afternoon.

Knitting. I am not a knitter like my friend Kate. But for some reason all week long as I have wondered when this baby would get here, the thought of knitting and these verses from Psalms keep popping into my head. I guess there are a just a few more stitches to go.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16

Toe nail polish. I have never been a nail polish girl, but recently my sweet husband has been painting my toenails for me (yeah that's right. Be jealous.) It's become a fun game for me to choose a new color every week. It's the little things.

Mayonaise. I hate mayonaise. But I almost died crying with laughter reading this entry in my friend Katherine's blog this week.

Upcoming celebrations. So it's no secret that I love hamburgers, but I've had a huge beef aversion all throughout this pregnancy. I really wanted a 4th of July cookout but how can you possibly do that without burgers?? We decided we would celebrate the Fourth sometime in the next two weeks after the baby is born and my parents are in town and I can finally enjoy the deliciousness of a burger. So while all of you are wrapping up your day of holiday fun, I am still looking forward to mine. In the meantime, I am off to cook some very patriotic stir-fry for dinner tonight.

I'll try to think of some happy thoughts to share tomorrow that don't revolve around food. But don't cross your fingers!

  1. try to rest and do some things that you want to do and can do now by yourself because you won't be by yourself for quite some time once Baby Shorty gets here. The rest of us can be anxious for you.
