One is fun

Hope your Christmas was as wonderful as mine! I'm relaxing at my parents' in SC all week and still catching up on posting. These images are from a shoot I did a month ago- the day before Thanksgiving actually.

Kate and I debated for a while about where to capture her little boy in his one-year-old glory before deciding to meet at Harmon's Tree Farm in Gilbert, SC. We were a little nervous- some tree farms can be kinda tacky- and the weather was threatening rain, but we ended up with a great session. Harmon's was filled with all sorts of hidden gems- toddler-sized trees, brightly colored doors, and interesting backgrounds and textures.

In some ways 2009 seems like a long year. In other ways I feel like it was just yesterday that I took Charlie's three-month-old pictures, but according to my calendar it was in February. How is this precious little boy already a whole year old and walking around??











These feel like Christmas magic to me.

No place like home for the holidays

After an eight-and-a-half hour drive that actually took twelve hours, Dylan, Riley and I arrived at my parents' house in South Carolina just after midnight last night. The brothers, sisters, and dogs are all here, the candlelight service at church was beautiful, the lasagna is eaten, we have enough cookies to feed an army, wrapping paper is flying around the house, and pajamas are on- Christmas festivities have officially commenced. Bring on the reindeer. And rejoice, for unto us a Savior is born!

This year's do-it-yourself Curtis family Christmas card photo shoot was a bit of a disaster (freezing cold, gusty winds, 15 minutes, two sick people, one misbehaving dog, ten days before Christmas), but here's a quick shot anyway. Especially because if you're on our Christmas card list, you likely didn't get the card in the mail time for the actual holiday...

Someone LOVED his first adventure in the snow!














And some of the rest of us loved playing in the snow and then spending all weekend in our pajamas watching Christmas movies and making cupcakes. And some of us also love that schools are closed tomorrow so Dylan gets the day off! Let the snow party continue.

Snowy thoughts and a stylish baby

This is my kind of Friday night- fuzzy socks, fleece pajamas, Elf on TV, and me curled up with my laptop and snoring dog, just waiting for the snowy goodness to begin! I am trying to be patient as the storm creeps up the east coast (but I do hope it waits just a tad longer till Dylan finishes soccer practice.) We have big plans to spend tomorrow staring out the window at the falling flakes, baking cookies, and wrapping presents. Could be the perfect December day.

I had to laugh at the grocery store tonight. I remember many South Carolina forecasts calling for snow flurries and the ensuing madness as the entire city stocked up on bottled water, pre-hurricane style. I guess people are just as crazy up here, because my quick trip to pick up a few things on the way home ended up taking much longer as I circled the parking lot looking for a spot. Interestingly enough, once I managed to get into the store the hot item was eggs. The shelves were emptied. I had to buy the only ones left- some sort of fancy, expensive eggs. I certainly hope I can taste a difference in my breakfast and my cookie dough.

Ok, enough of my snow-related jabbering, there will be plenty of time for that tomorrow. Enjoy a few of my favorite shots from this session back in November. Sweet Ty had just turned one, and he and his mom Jennifer met me at the USC Horseshoe to capture him in his snazzy outfit.

This last one makes me happy. I think technically it's a "mom-I'm-not-really-smiling-I'm-actually-about-to-cry-pick-me-up-I-am-done-with-pictures" face, but it's precious either way.

Four cousins, nonstop fun

What's cuter than these sisters or these sisters?

All four of them at once.

Maddie, Molly, Carter, and Abby are cousins, so in between their family sessions we got some of the foursome. In case you didn't get enough of their smiles the first time around, here are a few more of my favorite images. They are one giggly group of girls! (Their moms tell me they are always like this.)
































Still ahead: a bunch of boys, including a stylin' one-year-old, a stripey one-year-old, and a snuggly one-day-old.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Spent a few days under the weather, but I'm still alive and kickin'. So now it's back to my backlog of sessions...

Ok, so I remember middle school and high school, those "tween" and teen years. What I don't remember is looking like a rockstar during those times. (Although I did snag my husband during high school. Must've been my cool Jansport bookbag.)

These girls clearly have it figured out. Carter and Abby were so fun to work with- incredibly sweet, incredibly gorgeous, and full of laughs.





And they both have the most amazing eyes



































I mostly work with younger kids, so this was a fun change. Thanks girls!
